Murray State Quarterback Cited

Murray State University's sophomore quarterback Jeff Ehrhardt received a citation and charged with robbery Wednesday.

A citation issued by the MSU Public Safety department alleges Ehrhardt bumped a Campus Patrol officer from behind and stole his ticket book.

Ehrhardt was charged with second degree robbery. He is to be in court on April 29 at 9am.

Campus Public Safety has apparently issued a citation for a court date instead of an actual physical arrest.

Ehrhardt turned himself in to MSU Public Safety and returned the ticket book. In a sworn statement that he did it after being “bet $20 he wouldn't do it.”

A report indicated that the Officer provided a description of the suspect although it is reported a witness named Ehrhardt as the suspect.

In the report it was indicated force was used in the commission of a theft, which is why the 2nd degree robbery charge was made.

That would make it a Class C felony and carries a penalty of 5-10 years and a fine between $1,000 and $10,000.

Murray State University athletic department will handle the matter internally and will not make any other comment.

Murray State's Athletic Director Allen ward indicated that the situation seemed to be a prank gone bad. However it will have to run the due course to see if any further discipline is needed.

Ward said that he had punished Ehrhardt and that Coach Matt Griffin was also administering disciplinary action.
