Sunday at 12:30 pm Jacob Alan Nash, 20, was in an accident while racing at his home town track of Thunder Valley Raceway in Livingston.

During his 2nd moto he hit the jump just after the finish line and something made his bike endo (front end of the bike dives down and back the end starts coming over) and he crashed, hitting the ground very hard.

According to witnesses, no one knows for sure what happened but he was instantly unconscious.

When the paramedics got to him he was not breathing and was immediately taken into the ambulance and given CPR, his breathing regained.

He was transported to a Medi-vac helicopter and was flown to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.

Jacob did not survive the trip.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday at Washington Avenue Baptist Church with Bro. Mark Gaw officiating.

The church was filled to overflowing as final goodbyes were said.

Burial was at the Nash Cemetery in Baxter.

Thousands have stood in long lines to pay their respects to Jacob, coming from all parts of the Southeast and as far as Germany.

Jacob was born on July 3, 1988 in Putnam County,TN to parents Terry Nash of Baxter and Debbie Cox Nash of Cookeville.

Jacob was a member of the Washington Avenue Baptist Church and was a student at Nashville State Community College.

Jacob planned to attend Tennessee Tech University in the fall and was competing in the sport that he loved well, motor cross racing, when he was fatally injured.

On one blog, a fellow racer wrote "I was right behind him when it happened and the minute his wheels left the jump I knew it wouldn't be good. His presence will be missed in the southeast for sure."

Another wrote "Jacob was full of talent and will be sorely missed...My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends..."

A talented motor cross competitor, his wins are easily visible in internet records and the tragic accident shocked much of the motor cross community.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Jeremy Nash, hIs paternal grandparents, William & Jessie Pearl Nash of Baxter,TN, and his maternal grandfather, Milford Cox, of Cookeville,TN.

Jacob wrote on his own website "At age seven my riding started as just play riding around the yard just as any normal kids would start. However I had a big advantage.

I had an older brother, who was much more experienced to chase after. He was and still is my mentor in the sport."

Jacob continued to describe his development in the sport "Over the years my riding and racing skills have developed into a very unique style.

I would describe my style as smooth and fluid but with a touch of aggressiveness."

His goals for the future included continuing to develop himself as a competitive racer. He described himself and his passion this way, "I have been riding motocross for 12 years now and competing for 10.

I have a strong passion and love for a couple different things, first being God and the second being motocross. I consider both a huge part of my life and I don't know where I would be today without them.

I compete because I have a deep passion for the sport and I want to continue to progress over the next few years."

On his web page, Jacob spoke of a You Tube video created by brother Jeremy, which can be seen at
