It has been about 24 hours since the bodies of former Titan Quarterback Steve McNair and Sahel Kazemi were found in Nashville.

Wayne McNeely, who co-rents a condo just off Second Avenue South on Lea Avenue with McNair, discovered the bodies.

Don Aaron, a spokesperson for Metro Police confirmed Sunday afternoon that McNair is classified a homicide.

Arron said "Steve McNair was shot four times, twice in the chest and twice in the head."

He also says "Kazemi was shot once in the head and the classification of her death may take a few days."

The gun found at the scene was a semi-automatic pistol and found under the body of Kazemi. Aaron commented "the evidence at the scene is consistent with the gun recovered."

Agents of the ATF are tracing the ownership of the gun and will be looking to question the owner.

Friends have indicated that McNair and Kazemi had been dating over the past few months.

Aaron said that McNair was seen at Blue Moon Lagoon Bar and at Loser's Bar in the early morning hours Saturday. Both apparently died in the early hours Saturday as well.

Aaron indicated that police planned to interview the former boyfriend of Kazemi in seeking more information.

Aaron also said that some of Kazemi's family were expected to come to Nashville Sunday and that police would want to talk with them.

Aaron indicated that it may be a few days before anymore details are know and that no more updates from the police department are expected anytime soon, especially today.

McNair is survived by his wife Mechelle and four sons Junior, Steven, Tyler and Trenton.

Bud Adams, owner of the Titans, released this statement when being informed of the former Oiler/Titans death.

“We are saddened and shocked to hear the news of Steve McNair’s passing today. He was one of the finest players to play for our organization and one of the most beloved players by our fans. He played with unquestioned heart and leadership and led us to places that we had never reached, including our only Super Bowl. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as they deal with his untimely passing.”

Governor Phil Bredesen also released a statement late today that said...
"Andrea and I were very saddened by the news of Steve McNair's death. He has always felt like part of the Nashville family, and he will be sorely missed."

Nashville Mayor Karl Dean issued this statement..."Nashville will always be grateful to Steve McNair for his talent, his leadership and most of all his courage. His selfless style of play endeared him to the fans of Nashville and all of Tennessee. His leadership of the Super Bowl team of 1999 will always have a distinctive place in Nashville sports history. Steve and his family are in our hearts and prayers."

McNair retired after a couple of seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.

McNair was the Oilers and Titans' Quarterback most of his career and led The Titans to the Super Bowl in the first season at the new stadium in Nashville.

McNair was co-MVP of the NFL with Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts in 2002.

McNair was a mentor and friend with current Titan Vince Young. He had been advising Young since he came into the league.

Titan's coach Jeff Fisher was not in town to learn of the death of McNair. He has joined current and former coaches on a trip to visit the troops fighting the war on terror.

More updates to come as more information is released in the case.
