William G. “Bill” Emendorfer, Athens, TN, has been elected to serve a two-year term as President of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. Emendorfer has been serving as a member of the TSHF Board of Directors and replaces Wayne McCreight of Dresden, TN.
A graduate of Cleveland High School and the University of Tennessee, Emendorfer was an outstanding athlete starring in both football and wrestling. At Tennessee he started in all 36 varsity games and during that period UT was the winningest team in the nation with a record of 31-5. He was elected team co-captain his senior year and was named to the All SEC team in 1972. He was later named to the All-Decade team at Tennessee for the 1970’s as an offensive guard.
Following graduation Emendorfer attended the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences, Memphis, TN where he received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He maintained aw private dental practice in Athens, TN for 13 years.
In 1985 he became President and CEO of Restaurant Concepts, Inc. where he created and developed dining properties in Knoxville, Greenville, S.C., Athens, TN, Cleveland, TN and Corbin. KY.
Three recently appointed members of the TSHF Board of Directors include: Cato Johnson, Senior Vice President, Methodist Healthcare, Memphis, TN; Gary F. Clayton, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, Powell Companies, Johnson City, TN and Chris Massaro, Director of Athletics, Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, TN. Each will serve six-year terms.
